Abstract:

The author of this work investigates those methods that were used by the
Mongolian "State Commission for Specialized Terms," for the clarification and
standardization of borrowed, modern terms within the Khalkha-Mongolian
language. At the same time, she catalogs the borrowed material in
Khalkha-Mongolian language by its language of origin in order to divide it
according to the classification system for linguistic loan words proposed by
the Germanist Werner Betz. She extensively analyses on this basis the
individual processes of word-borrowing, with the goal to develop a
theoretically grounded, systematically oriented, and in practice verifiable
and practical processes in the clarification of modern, specialized terms in
Khalkha-Mongolian. (Harrassowitz Verlag 2014)
