Position Summary

Join a vibrant campus community whose excellence is reflected in its diversity
and student success. West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Department of
Languages and Cultures invites applicants for the position of a full-time,
tenure-track, Assistant Professor of TESOL to begin August 2015. 

Minimum Qualifications

A doctoral degree in TESOL or Applied Linguistics (or a closely-related area)
in hand by August 15, 2015. Evidence of strong research or strong research
potential in TESOL or Applied Linguistics (open specialization); experience or
solid preparation in teaching TESOL courses at the graduate level; experience
or solid preparation in ESL teacher training; experience or solid preparation
in teaching linguistics courses at the undergraduate and the graduate level. 

Note: Teaching responsibilities will include “Teaching English Language
Learners PK-12,” a course designed to meet the needs of certification
candidates across disciplines, content areas, and grade levels.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have experience in the design and the teaching of
online-based or hybrid courses, show evidence of excellence in teaching and
course development, as well as evidence of interest/experience in Program
administration. Background in a formal area of linguistics and bilingual
proficiency are highly desirable.

Initial screening of applicants will begin on January 20, 2015 and continue
until the position is filled. Applicants must successfully complete the
interview process including an on-site interview, a research presentation, and
a teaching demonstration to be considered as a finalist. The filling of this
position is contingent upon available funding.
