Description:

College of Humanities and Social Sciences, MA TEFL Program and BA in English &
Communications / Full-time Faculty in Teaching English as a Foreign Language
and English & Communications.

For its growing needs, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences of the
American University of Armenia (AUA) is seeking applicants for a full-time
faculty position split between the MA TEFL and English & Communications
programs starting in August 2015.

The MA TEFL is a dynamic two-year program designed to meet the needs of an
educational system in transition.  The MA TEFL curriculum combines theory and
practical skills providing students an opportunity to conduct research in the
field of applied linguistics and language teaching.  (Visit us on the web at

The BA in English & Communications is one of three Bachelor’s degree programs
launched at AUA in fall 2013.  (Visit us on the web at

Qualifications: Candidates should hold a PhD in Applied Linguistics, Second
Language Acquisition, Foreign Language Education, TESOL, or related field, and
be able to teach in both the graduate and undergraduate programs:  MA TEFL and
BA in E&C.  Documented excellence in teaching (including classroom teaching of
English as a second or foreign language) is required.  Preference will be
given to candidates who can teach courses in at least two of the following
areas in the graduate program: Pedagogical Grammar, Second Language
Acquisition, TEFL Methodology, Research Methods, Practicum and Teaching
Internship Supervision, and Master’s Capstone Supervision; as well as writing
and linguistics courses in the undergraduate program and General Education. 
Previous experience in conducting academic duties in an international setting
is preferred.  Recently retired and faculty on sabbatical leave are encouraged
to apply.
