6th Biennial Meeting of the Rice Linguistics Society

We are pleased to announce that the 6th Biennial Meeting of the Rice Linguistics Society will be held March 20 and 21, 2015 on the Rice University campus in Houston, Texas. The conference is hosted by the Rice Linguistics Society (RLS), a graduate student-run organization affiliated with the Department of Linguistics at Rice University.

2nd Call for Papers:

Call Deadline: Monday, January 5th, 2015

We invite submissions for papers from all areas of linguistics as well as from other social sciences where language is used as a primary source of data. Papers examining community-of-practice approaches within topics of semantics, interaction and novel areas of discourse are especially encouraged to apply.

Abstracts should be submitted via the online submission interface that will be available on October 30, 2014 at the following link http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/RLS-6-2015. Authors may submit one single-authored and one co-authored abstract, or two co-authored abstracts. Abstracts should be no more than 500 words (not including references) and must be submitted by Monday, January 5, 2015. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by January 12, 2015.

Papers will be considered for both oral presentations and posters. Oral presentations will be allotted 20 minutes, with an additional 10 minutes for discussion and questions. Selected papers will be considered for publication in the Rice Working Papers in Linguistics, which will be due following the conference, on May 31, 2015. Posters will be presented on the second day of the conference. Prizes will be awarded to the best papers.
