Dr Alessandro Capone and Dr Salmani Nodoushan would like to collect papers for a volume on:

The Pragmatics of Interaction Around the Event of Death.

The volume may be published by Springer in Dr Capone’s series ‘Perspectives on pragmatics, philosophy and psychology’, if all papers are of high standards, as is expected.

The focus will be on interaction around the event(s) of death and emphasis on analysis of linguistic interaction will be preferred. Prospective contributors are encouraged to film or record and then analyse such events.

We expect to publish 30-40 papers of 15-20 pages (approx 500 words per page), dealing with culture including the Anglo-American and European one, but we would also greatly appreciate papers on non-European languages/cultures. Please send us abstracts within 10 months from this newsletter.

We encourage linguists and anthropologists (but also historians) to send us their abstracts. 1000 words will suffice for an abstract. We prefer detailed abstracts so that we can be selective enough. Criteria for choice of the papers will be as usual: vast knowledge of the literature; deep analysis; synthesis. Excellent knowledge of pragmatics is required.
