Call for Papers:

The title “Linguistic Innovation” is understood in the sense of processes occurring during different stages of language change, such as grammaticalisation, lexicalisation, morphological innovation (paradigmatic levelling, analogy, etc.) and also reanalysis.

The symposium will offer treatment and discussion of mechanisms and types of language change in respect of to their motivation, which should include both language-internal (language economy, rhetorical efficiency, pragmatic aspects) and language-external factors (language contact, dialect mixture, migration as well as other sociological contexts favouring language change).

You are cordially invited to submit papers on the above mentioned topics.

Talks can be given in English or German, and should not exceed 20 minutes (plus 10 minutes for discussion). After the Symposium, presenters will be invited to submit a manuscript version of their talk for online publication in JournaLIPP http://lipp.ub.lmu.de/ (after review of the paper).
