Meeting Description:

We live in an age of intensive civilizational changes. Increasing mobility and international contacts, enhanced by the use of new media and new technologies change the scene and context of teaching and learning of foreign languages and cultures. The new media and information technologies, online translators, and social networks contribute to changes in educational standards. Learners and teachers are part of these changes and shape new educational context in the contemporary world. 
 
The meeting will offer a forum for international and interdisciplinary exchanges among academic scholars and foreign language teachers to discuss new developments in the field of language and culture education.

The conference languages are Polish and English. 

Registration fee: 50 € (payable on site)

Registration fee covers conference materials, the publication of a volume of selected papers, conference lunch, two coffee breaks, a sightseeing city tour (6 June). The conference fee does not include travel and accommodation costs.

Social Programme:

A sightseeing city tour (included in the conference fee) and a get-together meal at a restaurant will be organized on Friday 6 June at 4 pm. (Attendance at this event will cost additional 10-15 €). Please tick off relevant boxes on the registration form.

Call for Papers:

Foreign Languages and Cultures: New Educational Contexts
Języki obce i kultura: Nowe konteksty edukacyjne

We invite papers on topics concerning new approaches to teaching and a new vision of learning, influences by new technologies, media and the multicultural world, in modern language teaching, school and academic tuition, educational innovations, computer-assisted translation, cultural awareness, etc. The list of topics is not exhaustive. 

Please submit abstracts of up to 300 words to the organizers to d.gonigroszek at unipt.pl.

Papers are allocated 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes for discussion. Equipment requirements should be specified on the registration form.

Important Dates:

Deadline for the submission of proposals: 15 April 2014
Notifications of acceptance will be sent by 1 May 2014
