Meeting Description:

The North American Phonology Conference (NAPhC) is a biennial event hosted at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec since 2000. The conference is devoted to phonology as a module of Generative Grammar.

2nd Call for Papers:

Revised call deadline: February 25, 2014

The theme of NAPhC8 is Phono-Logical Reasoning in three related senses:

- Ontology: What kinds of logical and set theoretic operations are used by the phonological faculty; e.g. set intersection?
- Scientific epistemology: What forms of reasoning do phonologists use in performing analyses and discovering the nature of the phonological faculty?
- Developmental epistemology: What forms of unconscious reasoning do learners use in acquiring a phonological system?

We welcome abstracts for talks of 40 minutes (including questions) on this theme or other any aspect of generative phonology.

Abstract Guidelines:

Deadline: February 25, 2014
Format: PDF
Length: 2-5 pages

Submission: By email to cognitivescience at concordia.ca

Anonymous abstract with following info in message:

- Name and affiliation of author(s) (Alphabetically, in case of multiple authors)
- Status of each author (student, post-doc, professor, etc)
- Poster: Yes/no. Are you willing to present your research in a poster? (Your answer will not affect your chances of acceptance for a talk.)

Results will be sent out before March 1.
