Focus: 
ISAB-Diskurs offers an interdisciplinary approach to discourse analysis. From the perspective of language studies, literary studies and media studies, ISAB-Diskurs looks into the theories and models concerning discourse analysis. In continuation of ISAB-TeSta 2012 (Interdisziplinäre Sommerakademie Bremen-Textualität der Stadt/Interdisciplinary Summer Academy Bremen - Textuality of the City) and ISAB-SuKo 2013 (Interdisziplinäre Sommerakademie Bremen - Sprache und Kolonialismus /Interdisciplinary Summer Academy Bremen - Language and Colonialism), ISAB-Diskurs 2014 will focus on German Studies.

Minimum Education Level: BA


Special Qualifications:
- You have to be a student of German or a similar subject.
- You have to be currently an advances BA, a MA or PhD-student.
- You must have completed your BA/MA with grades higher than average.
- You must have a good command of German (minumun level B2).
- A sound knowledge of basic concepts in German Literary Studies and Linguistics is appreciated.


Description:
The following four key concepts represent the interdisciplinary dispersion of Discourse Analysis:  'Criticism','Commemoration', discourse encoding of 'Emotion', and 'Postcolonialism'. The key concept of 'Postcolonialism' can be seen as a continuation of ISAB-SuKo 2013 (Interdisziplinäre Sommerakademie Bremen - Sprache und Kolonialismus /Interdisciplinary Summer Academy Bremen - Language and Colonialism) and creates a link to the research on Language in Colonial Contexts and (Post)Colonial Literary Studies, two of foci of the University of Bremen. The selection of key concepts is aimed at providing a chance for students to combine their theoretical knowledge with specific and current research questions. The language of this summer school will be German (minimum B2-level required).
