Description:

The SFB 632 ‚Information structure:
 The linguistic means for structuring utterances, sentences and texts' at the University of Potsdam, Germany, invites applications for a position as a research assistant (M.A. or equivalent) in historical linguistics (65%, salary according to TV-L E13). The starting date for the position is April 15th, 2014 or as soon as possible. The position is open until filled and will end June 30th, 2015.

The project aims at investigating the interaction between information structure and clause combining focusing on Early New High German (1350-1650). The key duties of the position include the following responsibilities:
- Empirical study on the relative order of clauses in discourse and its correlation with information structure
- Preparation of scientific publications and presentations
- Close cooperation within the project and the SFB

Applicants should demonstrate the following skills:
- Solid background in syntax
- Good knowledge in (Early New High) German 
- Experience in the research on language change
- Experience with corpus work

Applications should include a CV, an outline of research experience as well as a list with possible referees.
