Description:

The Department of English at ACK invites applications for a position in technical writing/rhetoric at the rank of Lecturer or Senior Instructor. We seek candidates with a PhD or a Master’s degree in technical writing, rhetoric or a very closely related field. They should have experience in teaching and curriculum development in these areas.  The selected candidate will be expected to develop and teach technical writing courses for Business and Engineering and might be required to help in setting up and running a writing center. 

Essential criteria:
- PhD or Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline, preferably in areas of technical writing or rhetoric.
- Minimum of 5 years for PhD holders and 10 years for Master’s holders, of relevant adult teaching experience preferably within a variety of international settings and/or with Arab learners.
- Experience in teaching and curriculum/material development in technical writing
- Information Technology (IT) skills – Microsoft Office Suite
- Native English-Language speaker

Desirable criteria:
- Professional certification in teaching, such as PGCE or QTS (UK)
- Bachelor’s degree related to Education
- Previous experience in teaching business and/or engineering English
- Experience in working in or running a writing center

About ACK: The Australian College of Kuwait is a private institution providing tertiary-level education to approximately 2500 students in the State of Kuwait. Programmes at ACK lead to vocational diploma and bachelor degrees in a number of engineering and business disciplines. As the language of instruction is English, intensive English language programs and foundation skills courses are offered as preparatory studies for selected students prior to entry into the Business and Engineering programs.
