Meeting Description:

The third meeting of the 'Formal and Experimental Advances in Sign language Theory' (FEAST) colloquium will take place at the University of Venice on June 9-10-11, 2014. FEAST is the conference of the COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) Action 'Unraveling the grammars of European sign languages: pathways to full citizenship of deaf signers and to the protection of their linguistic heritage'. For information about this COST Action: http://parles.upf.edu/en/content/cost-signgram.

FEAST is a regular forum to discuss formal approaches to sign language grammar (in particular in the generative tradition), experimental approaches to sign languages, and their interaction.

The keynote speakers of Venice FEAST 2014 will be:

Rachel Mayberry (University of California San Diego)
Stephen McCullough (San Diego State University)
Roland Pfau (University of Amsterdam)

The languages of the conference will be English and ASL/IS. Interpreting between ASL/IS and English will be provided.

The conference email: venicefeast at unive.it
Conference web page: http://virgo.unive.it/venicefeast/

Presently we expect participation to the conference to be free.

Call for Papers:

Submissions are now invited for Venice FEAST. Authors are asked to submit their abstracts as e-mail attachments in .pdf format to the following address: venicefeast at unive.it. Files should be anonymized. We plan to have oral presentations (30 minutes + 10 minutes discussion) as well as a poster session (posters are particularly welcome for contributions reporting experimental work). The poster session will be preceded by a special session in which each poster presenter will be allotted 5 minutes to introduce the topic of his/her poster.

The anonymous abstract should include the title and indicate whether it is intended for poster or oral presentation. The title of the paper, name of the author(s), affiliation(s), surface mail address and email address should be included in the e-mail message. Abstracts should not be longer than two pages in length (including tables, examples and references), in 12-point type, single line spacing and 2,5 cm. margins. Abstracts will be reviewed by an external panel and the reviewing process will be double-blind. At maximum two abstracts (one of which must be co-authored) can be submitted.

Conference dates: June, 9-10-11, 2014
Deadline for submission: February 15, 2014
Notification of acceptance/rejection: March 16, 2014
