We are pleased to announce this one day conference at the University of Birmingham (UK). This year's conference theme is “Researching Language and Linguistics: Bridging Gaps.”

Call for Papers:

University of Birmingham English Language Postgraduate Conference (BELP)
Orchard Learning Resource Centre (OLRC), Selly Oak Campus, University of Birmingham
Friday, 7 March 2014, 9:00 – 17:00

We invite postgraduate students from any institution to submit abstracts for oral presentations or workshops on any area of linguistics. We are particularly interested in topics which try to bridge gaps between two (or more) branches of linguistic research, such as discourse analysis, pragmatics, corpus linguistics and multi-modality or any other areas in language research.

Key Dates:

2 February: Deadline for abstract submission
21 February: Notification of submission outcome
7 March: Conference day

Abstract Submission Guidelines:

Proposals should comprise a title and an abstract of no more than 300 words. Please include the following information with your submission: Name, Institution, Type of Researcher (e.g. PhD, MPhil, MRes etc.), Home Discipline(s) (e.g. Linguistics, Sociology, History, Education, MFL) and an email address.

Presentation Guidelines:

Accepted abstracts will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for discussion. Workshops will be allotted 15 minutes for presentation about research and up to 35 minutes of practical activities/discussion.
