Description:

Department of Language Sciences is pleased to announce the beginning of an open search for a full-time faculty position in Phonetics and Phonology. Courses to be taught may include: Phonetics, Phonology, Experimental Linguistics, etc. at the undergraduate level as well as related courses in General Education and the Graduate School.

ICU is a private, bilingual liberal arts university with an undergraduate College of Liberal Arts and graduate programs. ICU’s educational mission is based on Christian and democratic principles. ICU has 3,000 students from Japan and overseas. The university is located on a wooded campus in the suburbs of Tokyo. 

Rank:
Associate Professor or above (At ICU, the rank of Associate Professor is an entry-level tenure-track faculty position.)

Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. or equivalent in Linguistics or a related field is required. 
2. Language of instruction: English (Knowledge of Japanese or willingness to learn Japanese is desirable.)
3. Commitment to the University’s Christian mission

Deadline for applications:
August 31, 2014 (Application must arrive by August 31, 2014.)
(Deadline may be extended until a most appropriate candidate is found.)

Starting date:
April 1, 2015 or September 1, 2015
