Description:

The Research Committee of the University of Patras invites applications for hiring two (2) full-time post-doctoral researchers to work for the project Morphology in language-contact situations: Greek dialects in contact with Turkish and Italian (acronym «MORILAN», code 643), under the scientific supervision of Angela Ralli, Professor of Linguistics. 

The project is implemented under the Act "Excellence" of the Operational Programme "Education and Lifelong Learning". It is funded by the European Union (European Social Fund-ESF) and national resources. 

The successful applicants will sign a contract for the entire duration of the project, as described in the technical annex and not beyond the official termination date, i.e. 27/09/2015. They will work in the following fields: 
- Discovery and investigation of written and oral dialectal sources
- Composition and diffusion of a questionnaire
- Data analysis and study of dialectal phenomena
- Project dissemination.

The successful applicants are expected to meet the following criteria: 
- Scientific training: Advanced skills in dialectal linguistic morphology of Griko (1st researcher) and advanced skills in dialectal linguistic morphology of Cappadocian.
- Professional experience: Master and Ph.D. degrees in Linguistics with specialty in Morphology, awarded by a Hellenic or other recognized University. 
- Additional criteria:
  - Experience in similar research projects   
  - Relevant publications 
  - Fluency in Greek and English, plus basic knowledge in Turkish for the 2nd researcher.

The successful postdoctoral researchers will be selected by the project coordinator, on the basis of scientific excellence, skills and qualifications, and without any restrictions of nationality. The salary will be determined depending on the qualifications. 

The following requirements will apply:
- Possession of a doctoral degree or completion of formal requirements for a Ph.D. at the time of application.
- During the period of employment, the postdoctoral fellows will be paid by the project, and they will be committed to a full-time job. The research will be conducted at the premises of the Laboratory of Modern Greek Dialects, Department of Philology, University of Patras.
