Meeting Description:

The School of English Studies at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) will host an International Conference on Phonology and Phonetics from May 30-June 1, 2014 (Friday–Sunday). The general conference theme is “English Pronunciation by Chinese Learners”, but panel discussions (workshops) will focus on a variety of topics.

A number of well-known international scholars will be invited to deliver keynote speeches (to be announced).

The working language of the conference will be English. 

The conference fee will be 800 RMB (non-SHISU full-time postgraduates: half price; SHISU faculty and graduates: free). 

In addition, participants will pay for their own travelling fares and accommodation. The Committee will make available a list of bookable hotels and other accommodation during the conference.

(Panels will be merged if there are fewer than 10 participants)

Abstracts for papers (200-300 words, including title, name, affiliation and key words) together with a registration form (see below) should reach us by email before April 20, 2014. Please indicate clearly which panel your paper is intended for. After the conference, a small number of papers presented at the conference will be invited for publication (apart from the abstracts booklet, there will be no conference publication).
