Description:

Applications are invited for the position of associate professor (lektor) in English linguistics with a specialisation in second language acquisition at the Department of Aesthetics and Communication.

The appointment is tenured, and begins on 1 February 2015, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position
A position as associate professor includes tasks and responsibilities in all of Aarhus University’s core activities in the areas of research, teaching, talent development and knowledge exchange. The position is attached to the English degree programme and involves research, teaching and supervision duties in English linguistics.

Qualifications required
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate:
- A research publication record at an international level in second language acquisition, with a focus on English and related languages, commensurate with having held the position of assistant professor or its equivalent.
- Experience of international research cooperation in the area of the position.
- The ability to initiate and participate in collaborative projects with other research and teaching programmes at Aarhus University and in international contexts. 
- Relevant and successful teaching experience at university level commensurate with the position of assistant professor or its equivalent.
- Successful application of innovative teaching methods.
- Native or near-native command of English.
- Qualification for teaching specialised courses at BA and MA levels in second language acquisition, introductory courses in English linguistics, and theory/method and interdisciplinary courses on the English degree programme.
- Experience of attracting external research funding.

All teaching on the English degree programme is in English. However, if applicants are appointed who are not already speakers of Danish, they are required to acquire sufficient Danish within two years of commencing the appointment to participate fully in the activities of the Department of Aesthetics and Communication. 

In order to maintain and develop the department’s research environment, the person appointed is expected to be present at the department on a daily basis.
