Meeting Description:

We have great pleasure in inviting you to participate in the International Conference 'HIV/AIDS. Interdisciplinary perspectives' that will be held in University of Bayreuth in Germany from 11-13 September 2014.

'HIV/AIDS. Interdisciplinary perspectives' is being organized by members of the University of Bayreuth Graduate School as an international and multidisciplinary conference on HIV/AIDS. It is supposed to bring together scholars and practitioners of different specialisations and occupational fields to throw a light on their particular perspectives and to make their knowledge beneficial to others.

The conference is to be understood as a forum for experts in the HIV/AIDS related research and practical fields in order to present, share and discuss their projects and results as well as their key activities and working experience. It shall provide interesting insights into a broad spectrum of disciplines and occupational areas focusing on HIV/AIDS: Medical Science and Psychology, Linguistics and Communication Studies, Economics and Political Science, Literature and Media Studies as well as prevention, psychological counselling and medical practice.

Call for Papers:

Papers can focus on the following questions:

- What insights and new findings does the current biomedical and virological research yield?
- What kind of challenges do medical actors face in the treatment of HIV-positive patients?
- How are prevention campaigns conceived, implemented and evaluated?
- What socio-economic consequences does HIV/AIDS have in the German and European con-text as well as world-wide?
- What role does the psychosocial dimension of HIV/AIDS play in the life of HIV-positive per-sons and their social environment?
- How can linguistic research projects contribute to a deeper understanding of HIV/AIDS?
- How is HIV/AIDS being received in literature, cinema, photography, the media and other arts?

Registration/Application:

You can participate with or without an own paper. Participation is in any case free of charge. Papers can be given in German or English.

We will reimburse invited speakers for the hotel room and travel expenses.
As the number of participants is limited, we would kindly ask you for your binding registration.
