Lecturer in Teaching English as a Foreign Language

The Department of Language and Linguistics at The University of Essex is seeking to appoint a Lecturer with a strong research background in the teaching of English as a foreign language. Applications are welcomed from candidates with research and teaching expertise in any area of this field, but particular consideration will be given to those with expertise in qualitative research methods. The appointee will join the Applied Linguistics research cluster, will be expected to teach at all levels from first year undergraduate to PhD, will contribute to maintaining the Department’s international research profile, and will play a role in the administration of the Department.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Applied Linguistics, TEFL or a relevant field. S/he will be able to demonstrate the potential for producing high quality publications in international journals, for attracting external research funding and for achieving excellence in teaching. 

We particularly welcome applications from minority ethnic candidates as they are under-represented at this level.
