I am a PhD pre-candidate doing a study on the Afrikaans and English of
Afrikaans native speakers in expatriate communities. I will be conducting a
pilot study over the next four weeks with the Afrikaans speaking community
in Greater London. In additional to the subject pools with which I have
already made contact, I am looking for additional participants.
Participants will fill-out a survey, have a sociolinguistic interview, and
will read word lists. If you are in the Greater London area and either, (1)
are an Afrikaans-native speaker and would like to take part in this study,
or (2) have contact with or knowledge of the Afrikaans speaking community
in Greater London, I would appreciate hearing from you. As of right now, I
have 7 confirmed participants, but would like to raise this number to at
least 15. Thus, any additional participants I could contact through this
forum, or advice on viable means of recruitment for Afrikaans-speakers in
London is solicited.
