Description:

The department of English and American Studies at the Humboldt-Universitaet zu Berlin, Germany, has a doctoral research position (E 13 TV-L, 65%) to fill in the project 'Affirmative and rejective responses to assertions and polar questions' (PIs Manfred Krifka & Sophie Repp). The project is part of the German Research Council Priority Program 'XPrag: New Pragmatic Theories'. The position will start in September 2014, running for 36 months.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The applicant is expected to undertake a PhD degree within the context of the project. In collaboration with other project members she/he will design and implement experiments, analyse the data, and publish the results. 

Requirements:
- The applicant must have a Master's degree in Linguistics, Psycholinguistics, or a related discipline. A specialization in Semantics and/or Pragmatics is an advantage. 
- The applicant is required to have excellent command of both English and German. Native knowledge of one of the two languages is desired. 
- We welcome experience with conducting experiments (acceptability studies, reading time studies, and/or eye tracking studies).
