Meeting Description: 

The conference covers a broad spectrum of disciplines working towards enabling
intelligent systems to interact with humans using natural language, to
understanding computational and other linguistic properties of language, and
to enhancing human-human communication through services such as speech
recognition, automatic translation, information retrieval, text summarization,
and information extraction. The conference program includes presentation of
accepted papers, as posters and/or oral presentation, and also includes
tutorials, demonstrations, and workshops. The ACL 2014 program will also
include eligible papers accepted by the Transactions of the ACL (TACL), the
new journal of the ACL.

5. Social Events at ACL 2014

1. Welcome Reception. Catch up with your colleagues at the Welcome Reception on Sunday evening, June 22 at 6pm, in the Grand Ballroom Foyer of the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront immediately following the Tutorials. Refreshments, a light dinner, and a cash bar will be provided.

2. Student Lunch. Join us Monday, June 23 at 12:30pm, at the famous Phillips Seafood Restaurant. Get to know others who share similar interests and goals and who may become your lifelong colleagues. Meat, chicken and vegetarian dishes also available. Students only. Generously sponsored by Nuance.

3. ACL 2014 Social and Networking Event. Beginning at 7:30pm on Tuesday, June 24, casually walk over to the National Aquarium for desserts, coffee, tea, and cash bar. Wander through the exhibits, network with colleagues, dance to the sounds of a local DJ, and enjoy a relaxing evening with the jellyfish and sharks.

6. Venue Information

ACL 2014 will be held on Baltimore's Inner Harbor at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront. The Baltimore Marriott Waterfront is a AAA 4-diamond hotel and is a TripAdvisor 2013 Certificate of Excellence Award winner. Guestrooms offer sweeping views of Baltimore’s beautiful waterfront and skyline, and in addition to guestroom views, ballroom foyers directly overlook the waterfront marina.

More than 40 restaurants, cafes and pubs are within 1-3 blocks, including Harborplace, historic Little Italy and Fell’s Point. Most are directly overlooking the Inner Harbor and have outdoor seating on the waterfront.

Baltimore's cultural districts (including the world-class-gem Walters Art Museum and Visionary Art Museum) are close by, easily accessible by the free and frequent Circulator bus system and water taxis leaving directly in front of the hotel.

Baltimore is served by Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI). Other nearby regional airports are Reagan National Airport (DCA), and Dulles International Airport (IAD).

Since visa applications can take 1-4 months to be approved, we advise that you apply well in advance. If you require an invitation letter for your visa application, please email the ACL Business Manager, Priscilla Rasmussen, at acl at aclweb.org, with the following information:

3. If you are presenting, the title of the paper your are presenting
4. If you are presenting, the venue of the presentation:
a) Main Conference, or
