Meeting Description:

The fourth international Symposium on Approaches to English Historical Lexicography and Lexicology (OX-LEX4) will be held at Pembroke College, Oxford on March 25-27, 2015.

We hope to bring together international scholars with a range of interests in historical lexicography and lexicology, including professional lexicographers and historical linguists, who are interested in applying and developing new research methods in this area of English historical linguistics.

Call for Papers:

Submissions are welcome on any area of historical lexicography, lexicology, or dictionary history, but we particularly invite contributions on the following themes:

1. Historical regional lexicography  
2. Users and readers past and present 
3. Exploring and visualizing historical dictionary data: mapping the world of words 
4. Principles and practitioners  
5. Historical dictionaries, language history, and real-world history  
6. Crowd-Sourcing – past and present 
7. Historical lexicography in an interconnected digital world  

We would also welcome suggestions of further themes from two or more scholars who would like to present on related topics.
