Meeting Description:

The Executive Committee on Language Change will be holding a workshop on
approaches to the teaching of language change at the upcoming Modern Language
Association (MLA) conference in Vancouver. We plan to explore practical
strategies for integrating studies of language change across the curriculum,
as well as empirical studies of best practices.


Call for Papers:

Teaching Language Change across the Curriculum: A Roundtable

The Executive Committee on Language Change at the Modern Language Association (MLA) is accepting papers for a roundtable session to be held at the annual conference in January 2015 in Vancouver. We seek papers exploring the most effective ways to address the concept of language change when teaching specific topics in literature, composition, rhetoric, linguistics, or language courses. Papers may focus on best practices in course design and lesson planning; on addressing the needs of particular student demographics, university curricula, and state and federal standards; or on applications of specific pedagogical theories. Empirically-based reflection on teaching practice is appreciated but not required.
