Description:

The ETC degree programme is looking for an enthusiastic university lecturer (UD) specializing in Swedish linguistics. A substantial part of the job comprises contributing to language proficiency teaching in Swedish. The Swedish department has an excellent reputation on both teaching and research and collaborates in a number of fields with several sister departments in Sweden and the Dutch language area, as well as the Swedish Institute in Stockholm.

Teaching (60% of the appointment) takes place as part of the broad bachelor's degree programme in European Languages and Cultures and the master's degree programme in European Linguistics. Given this context, the UD is expected to have knowledge of the wider framework of European linguistics.

Research (comprising 40% of the appointment) by UD will take place under the auspices of the Centre for Language and Cognition Groningen (CLCG).

Specific tasks:
- providing teaching in Linguistics for the bachelor's degree programme in European Languages and Cultures and for the master's degree programme in European Linguistics 
- providing language proficiency teaching in Swedish 
- contributing to the evaluation of the framework and implementation of course unit components, including making proposals with regard to possible improvements in the teaching and/or content of these course unit components 
- assessing academic achievement, using assessment modes developed and/or approved by the Institute for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies 
- conducting academic research in the aforementioned field 
- supervising bachelor's and master's theses in the aforementioned field 
- performing administrative and organisational duties.

Qualifications
in addition to a number of basic requirements set by the University of Groningen, such as excellent social and communication skills, presentation skills, coaching skills and a results-oriented attitude, we are looking for a candidate with a PhD in the field of Swedish linguistics, and who has an adequate command of Dutch or who is willing to learn Dutch within two years, and who also

In the area of teaching:
- has extensive experience with teaching university-level Swedish linguistics in a European context 
- has an excellent ('near-native') command of Swedish 
- has a sufficiently proficient command of English to be able to teach in English in the European Languages and Cultures degree programme 
- has gained the Basic Teaching Qualification or is prepared to do so within a year 
- is an excellent teacher, as demonstrated by positive teaching evaluations 
- is demonstrably able to make concrete contributions to the development of course units, partly by actively linking teaching to research.

In the area of research:
- has a personal research line as demonstrated by publications in the area of expertise mentioned 
- has international experience and an international network.

In the area of management and organisation:
- is able to make a constructive contribution to interdisciplinary collaboration and a friendly atmosphere within the department 
- has demonstrable administrative and organization skills.
