Linguistic Field(s): Language Acquisition

Meeting Description:

The conference will bring together scholars from across the globe to the beautiful, historic city of Graz, Austria’s second largest city, located in the south of the country.

The conference aims to generate new insights into the role of psychology in language learning and teaching. It will cover a wide range of topics including autonomy, beliefs, emotions, goal setting, group dynamics, motivation, the self, strategies, metacognition, willingness to communicate, individual differences, among others. A particular goal of the conference is to bring together different branches in this vibrant field and explore interconnections and potential for cooperation.

‘Matters of the Mind’ promises a unique opportunity to hear from leading international scholars, learn about the latest developments in research, and meet with researchers from around the world in a magnificent setting. In addition to a packed and challenging conference programme, a range of special events and activities offer the chance to relax while you get to know your colleagues and this beautiful, relatively undiscovered part of the world.

We hope you will join us and the outstanding line up of speakers for what promises to be an exciting and challenging conference in this dynamic field of foreign language learning and teaching.

As part of the conference, we are proud to announce 5 plenary speakers:

Andrew Cohen, University of Minnesota, USA
Zoltán Dörnyei, University of Nottingham, UK
Jean-Marc Dewaele, University of London, UK
Paula Kalaja, University of Jyväskylä, Finland
Ema Ushioda, University of Warwick, UK

In addition to the plenary sessions, the programme will also consist of workshops, symposia, parallel paper sessions and poster sessions.

Registration for the conference is now open. Please note that registration is open till Tuesday 8th April at the latest.

For all information on donating and pledging, including information on how to donate by check, money order, PayPal or wire transfer, please visit: http://linguistlist.org/donation/

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered 501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
