The conference aims to present a broad range of research on (i) the cognitive foundations of language structure and pragmatic function, and (ii) cognitive linguistic approaches to language teaching and learning and other applications.

Cognitive Linguistics and Pragmatics: Theory and Practice

Note: The deadline for the submission of abstracts has been extended to 24 April 2014.

Abstracts are invited for 20-minute presentations (with 10-minute discussion) addressing all theoretical, applied, and pedagogical aspects of cognitive linguistics and cognitive pragmatics, and related fields. Abstracts should be written in English, be 300–500 words in length (excluding References), and be prepared for anonymous refereeing (i.e., author-specific information should be avoided).

We welcome contributions from theoretical, empirical, experimental, and applied perspectives on (but not limited to) the following topics:

- Speech acts from a cognitive linguistic perspective
- Cognitive linguistic approaches to second language teaching and learning
- Metaphor and metonymy in grammar and discourse

- Cognitive linguistic approaches to linguistic typology
