Description:

The Center for Translation Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a Lecturer (PhD or MFA in hand)/Instructor (ABD or Masters Degree) position in Translation Studies (Applied Literary Translation) with a target start date of August 16, 2014.  The position will be full-time (3 courses per semester), nine month appointment, paid over twelve months.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.  The position is renewable, contingent on funding and strong annual performance reviews by the Center for Translation Studies.

Minimum Qualifications:  Specialization in creative writing and editing. Ability to teach campus and online sections. Ph.D., MFA or Master’s Degree plus 3 or more years of experience in translation editing and publishing.  MFA preferred.

Responsibilities:  Teaching load will be three courses or equivalent per semester and will most likely consist of TRST 501 and 502 (Applied Literary Translation I and II) and other elective courses as needed, such as Creative Writing for Translation and Translation Editing. Supervise capstone projects in literary translation.  Course descriptions are found at the department URL above.
