New Ways of Analyzing Variation 43, Chicago
October 23-26, 2014

Abstract submission is now open for the New Ways of Analyzing Variation (NWAV) 43 in Chicago!

We invite submissions for papers in all areas related to language variation. Abstracts should be submitted via the online abstract submission page: http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/NWAV2014. The submission page is also accessible from the conference website: http://www.nwav43.illinois.edu. Abstracts should be no more than 500 words, excluding references, and must be anonymized to omit all information about the author(s). If references are cited in addition to the 500 word limit, publications from the author(s) should be also omitted in the reference section.

Authors may submit one singly-authored and one jointly-authored abstract, or two jointly-authored abstracts. Abstracts will be anonymously reviewed. Papers will be considered for both oral and poster presentations. Oral presentations will be selected for four parallel sessions and will be expected to last 20 minutes with 5 minutes for questions. Poster presentations will be featured at a two-hour, separate poster session on October 24.

We are also accepting proposals for a limited number of panel sessions. Prospective panel organizers should include individual 500-word abstracts for each participant and a 300-word abstract explaining the rationale for the panel. Panel abstracts will undergo regular review.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered 501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
