Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Georgetown University invites applications for a post-doctoral researcher specializing in professional applications of sociolinguistics in conjunction with the existing efforts being undertaken by the MA in Language and Communication (MLC). The MLC program is a professionally-oriented program designed to bring sociolinguistic theory to practice in a range of professional fields.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about communicating linguistic insights to the public, including potential employers, students, and research collaborators.  Candidates should have an innovative, interdisciplinary research agenda with the ability to engage and collaborate with existing research efforts within the department of Linguistics. The responsibilities of the position include teaching 1 course per semester, conducting original research, and pursuing community engagement, public speaking and educational opportunities in conjunction with current outreach efforts currently underway within the department.

Pending final approval the appointment will be for the academic year 2014/2015, with the possibility of renewal for a second year, and will begin on July 1, 2014.  Applicants must have completed all requirements for the PhD degree by the time of the appointment.
