Meeting Description:

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 2nd International conference “The Magic of Innovation: New Trends in Language Research and Teaching Foreign Languages” to be held in Moscow on 24-25 April 2015. The conference is organized by English Language Department No 1 of the School of International Relations of the Moscow State Institute of Foreign Relations (MGIMO University).  

The conference will cover a wide range of issues related to Linguistics, Methodology in Language Teaching, Language for Specific Purposes, Intercultural Communication and Translation. You can find more details on the website of the conference http://www.inno-conf.mgimo.ru/index_eng.html.

Discussions will cover diverse issues related to modern linguistic studies, innovative approaches to teaching students of international relations and cross-cultural communication, future experts in regional studies, linguists and translators/interpreters as well as other specialists whose jobs requires foreign language skills.

The conference will be organized into the following strands:

1. Modern Text and Discourse Theories
2. Linguistic Analysis of Political Discourse
3. Cognitive and Pragmatic Aspects of Language and Speech
4. Cross-cultural Communication
5. Methodology in LT
6. Foreign Languages for Specific and Academic Purposes
7. E-learning and Distance Learning in Foreign Language Teaching
8. Translation Studies

The conference will feature a number of workshops and round table discussions.

The conference fee is 60 euros payable by bank transfer and covers a participant package, coffee breaks, the reception and interpretation services. The conference fee does not include publication fees. Bank account details will be forwarded once your proposal has been approved. 

Further information including cancellation policies and updates on the program, participants’ accommodation etc. will be available in due course at www.inno-conf.mgimo.ru.

Please note that participants’ accommodation, travel and other conference- related expenses will be borne by participants.

Call for Papers:

If you are interested in holding a workshop/master class or an interactive seminar related to the theme of the conference, please forward your proposal to inno-conf at inno.mgimo.ru by December 24, 2014.

Participants who have attended the entire conference, including all the plenaries, one of the scheduled workshops/master classes and a relevant session, will be eligible for a printed Certificate of Attendance.

Each presentation at concurrent sessions will last up to 15 minutes. Workshops/seminars are allotted 60 minutes each.

The working languages of the conference will be Russian and English (simultaneous interpretation will be provided upon request). 

Participants’ papers a maximum of 6 pages will be published in the proceedings of the Conference (publication fees apply). Only attendees’ papers will be accepted for publication provided they are related to the theme of the conference and conform to the publication guidelines.

Submissions:

Presenters are invited to register and submit their proposals either in Russian or in English by January 15, 2015 through the conference website www.inno-conf.mgimo.ru.
