Meeting Description:

The 15th International Conference on Translation will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 25 to 27 August 2015. The conference will be hosted by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (National University of Malaysia) and co-organised by Malaysian Translators Association (MTA), Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM), the Institute of Language and Literature (DBP), under the patronage of the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.

Conference Theme:

Synergising the Translation Community: Academia, Industry and Professional Practice 

Sub-Themes:

The Conference invites submissions in any areas of Translation and Interpreting Studies. The sub-themes of the Conference include, but are not limited to the followings:

- Interactions between academia and industry in the field of translation and interpreting
- Innovation and best practices in translation and interpreting
- Technology and new media in translation and interpreting 
- Accreditation and recognition in translation and interpreting
- Culture and sociology in translation and interpreting
- Community translation and interpreting
- New trends and approaches in translation and interpreting research
- Corpus-based translation research
- Translation and interpreting evaluation
- Translation in foreign language teaching and learning 
- Translation for special purposes
- Application of translation theories in professional practices
- Translation community in the ASEAN region  

Working languages of conference: English and Malay

Registration Fee:

- International presenters/participants: USD550.00
- Local presenters/participants: RM800.00
- Members of UKM, PPM, ITBM, DBP, KPM : RM700.00
- Local students (with student card): RM700.00

The registration fee includes conference proceedings, luncheons and coffee/tea breaks.

Important Dates:

- Deadline for submission of abstracts: 31 January 2015
- Notification of acceptance: by 28 February 2015
- Deadline for submission of full paper: 30 April 2015

Call for Papers:

Submission of Abstract:

Abstracts should be submitted to ppa15 at ukm.edu.my by 31 January 2015. All abstract submissions should follow these guidelines:

- Put the following at the start of the abstract: title of paper, name(s) of author(s), affiliation of author(s), e-mail of author(s)
- Length of abstract should be 200 - 250 words maximum and sent in electronic form as a Word file in an email attachment
- Use 12pt, Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing and justified alignment
- Insert a list of three to six keywords in alphabetical order below the abstract.

Submission of Full Paper:

Once your abstract is accepted, a full paper must be submitted by 30 April 2015. For the guideline on the submission of full papers please refer to the conference’s website www.ukm.my/ppa15
