Meeting Description:

The IV International Conference on Hispanic Linguistics. Harmony and contrasts will have as its main topics dialectology and linguistic contrasts in Spanish. The comparison between dialects and between more or less distant languages ​​is a powerful tool of contemporary linguistics and has led to the discovery of similarities in unexpected places, as well as the identification of unsuspected differences. The IV International Conference on Hispanic Linguistics takes as its central theme the contrastive perspective in linguistic analysis, whether from a historical point of view, a geographical perspective, or through social analysis: harmony and contrasts between languages, dialects and language varieties.

Plenary Speakers:

- John M. Lipski (Pennsylvania State University, USA) 
- Mauro Fernández Rodríguez (University of La Coruña, Spain)
- Silke Jansen (University of Erlangen, Germany)

Call for Papers:

Each participant will have 20 minutes for his presentation, and 10 minutes for questions and discussion.  
Participants will submit two files.

The first file will include:

- Title of the paper 
- Name(s) of the author(s)
- Institution
- Contact address
- Email

The second file will include:

- Title of the paper 
- Abstract: between 300 and 600 words
- Bibliography

Files can be submitted to jornadasdelinguistica at fl.ul.pt (with the subject: “Call for papers IVICHL”) by November 30, 2014. 

All abstracts will be subject to the approval of the scientific committee; notification of which, will be sent to author(s) by January 31, 2015.
