Description:

The Department of Modern Languages invites applications for an open-rank
tenure track position in Second Language Acquisition beginning in August 2015.

Applications are welcome from senior level as well as junior level candidates
whose research focuses on one or more of the following areas of second
language acquisition: technology-enhanced learning, media studies, digital
humanities, corpus linguistics, language policy and planning, language
assessment and program evaluation, instruction and learning, service-learning.

Successful candidates must have an earned Ph.D., strong evidence of research
productivity, excellence in teaching, evidence of securing extramural funding,
and a desire to collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment with
colleagues working in the areas of language acquisition, learning sciences,
and global studies.  Also required is interest in teaching courses both in the
graduate programs in SLA and in one of the language and cultural studies areas
of the Department.  Candidates should have advanced level proficiency and
ability to teach upper division as well as lower division courses in one or
more of the following language areas: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Korean,
Japanese, Russian, Spanish, preferably with expertise in Chinese or French.
Teaching load is 2+2.

professional conferences they plan to attend between November 2014 and January
2015), resume, statements of teaching, research, and curricular interests, and
three (3) letters of recommendation.  Representative publications, not to be
returned, may also be included.
