Description:

Hope College seeks an ABD or a Ph.D instructor to fill a tenure-track position
as a specialist in Spanish Applied Linguistics, with an emphasis on heritage
language learning, bilingualism, language acquisition/attrition, or other
related field, and with experience in teaching language courses to heritage
speakers. Duties include leadership of our burgeoning Heritage Speaker program
for native and near-native Spanish-speaking students, as well as sharing
responsibility for all levels of Spanish language courses and contributing to
the general education curriculum teaching load. Standard teaching load is
three four-credit courses per semester. Native or near-native fluency in
Spanish and English are expected. Training and experience in the use of
technology in language learning will significantly enhance an applicant's
standing. Strong candidates will demonstrate a record of excellent teaching
and scholarship, and a commitment to the liberal arts in the context of the
historic Christian faith. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and
experience. Ph.D. in hand by August 2015.
