Description:

Anticipated tenure-track position in Spanish Linguistics or related field to
start Fall 2015. Area of research specialization is open; however, the
successful candidate should be able to teach a variety of linguistics and
language acquisition courses offered in the department at the undergraduate
and graduate level with a 2-2 teaching load. In addition, the successful
candidate will direct the Basic Spanish Language Program and supervise the
instructors and teaching assistants. The department expects the new hire to be
research-active, to be interested in collaboration with colleagues and
students, to be committed to student success, and to engage with students
through programs such as the department’s Foreign Language Residence Program
or NIU’s Research Rookie Program.

Requirements 
Native or near-native fluency in Spanish; a Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics or
related field; experience in the use of technology, proficiency in different
modes of teaching (online/hybrid).

Preferred specialization
Second Language Acquisition, Psycholinguistics, or Sociolinguistics.
