Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers, Supporters, and Friends,

As of Sunday evening, Fund Drive has made $30,391.95. While we are so grateful for all of the support we have received thus far, we are still nearly $50,000 away from our goal. Making that goal is VITAL to the Linguist List operation—without it, we cannot continue.

http://funddrive.linguistlist.org/donate/

As a reminder, we have several donation benefits you can enjoy no matter how much you donate. Along with supporting LINGUIST, you can use your donation to help your university, business, subfield, country, or region in our
challenges!

In our Subfield Challenge, computational linguistics continues to hold a strong lead, with syntax and sociolinguistics in second and third place, respectively. We are excited to have TEN subfields that have hit the $1,000 mark! Way to go computational linguistics, syntax, sociolinguistics, phonology, historical linguistics, semantics, discourse analysis, pragmatics, morphology, and language acquisition! Phonetics—you could be next!

Please visit http://funddrive.linguistlist.org/subfield/ for a full list!

In our University Challenge, Indiana University Bloomington holds the lead with donations totaling $2,150 with 19 individual donors and University of Washington in second with donations totaling $1,910 with 30 individual donors.
IUB had a strong lead in the beginning, but University of Washington is slated to take it soon! IUB, will you fight back? What generosity from both universities!

Today we received donations from The College of New Jersey, University Paris-Sorbonne, Nanyang Technological University, IBM Watson, Bucknell University, Middlesex University, University of Washington, University College London, and All-Russia Institute for Scientific and Technical Information! Way to go!

Please visit http://funddrive.linguistlist.org/university/ for a full list!

In our Business Challenge, we have two generous donors:

1. Google, Inc ($4,000)
2. Microsoft Natural Language Group ($200)

We thank both companies for their generosity! What business will be the next to join this list?

In our Region Challenge, the top five rank as follows:

1. North America (237 donors)
2. Europe (110 donors)
3. Asia (15 donors)
4. Australia (7 donors)
5. Africa (4 donors)

In our Country Challenge, the top five rank as follows:
