Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers, Supporters, and Friends,

As of Wednesday evening at 4:15 pm (EST), Fund Drive has made $ 34,760.11. Please help us reach the $35,000 mark tonight. LINGUIST List needs to earn $79,000 this year from Fund Drive.

http://funddrive.linguistlist.org/donate/

If you haven’t already heard, we now also have an option for you to become a recurring donor. Please visit http://linguistlist.org/issues/26/26-2068.html for more information!

In our Subfield Challenge, computational linguistics continues to hold a strong lead, with syntax and sociolinguistics in second and third place, respectively. Language documentation just hit the $1,000 mark, so we now have
TWLEVE subfields that have donated over $1,000! Applied linguistics, you’re next!

Please visit http://funddrive.linguistlist.org/subfield/ for a full list!

Our University Challenge is on fire with stiff competition between Indiana University Bloomington and the University of Washington! IUB has held the top stop all of Fund Drive—but yesterday UW tied it up and even took the lead this
morning! However, thanks to some very generous donations from IUB, Indiana is back on top (but only by $180)! Who is willing to challenge these two incredible universities?! Stanford?

Today we received donations from University of Leipzig and CTLT, NCKU, Taiwan! We thank them both--and would really like to expand this list!

Please visit http://funddrive.linguistlist.org/university/ for a full list!

In our Business Challenge, we have three generous donors:

1. Google, Inc ($4,000)
2. Microsoft Natural Language Group ($300)
3. IBM Watson ($150)

We thank all three companies for their generosity! What business will be the next to join this list? Make it yours!

To make a donation and help your subfield, university, business, region, or country win, please visit http://funddrive.linguistlist.org/donate/.

Thank you all for your support, and please help spread the word about Fund Drive 2015 by forwarding, liking, retweeting, sharing, and even just by word of mouth! We can use all the support we can get! It’s time to get serious.

We wish you all a wonderful week!

Sincerely,
The LINGUIST List Team
