Description:

The Department of English Language and Literature (http://artsandsciences.sc.edu/engl/) and the Linguistics Program (http://artsandsciences.sc.edu/ling/) at the University of South Carolina invite applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in English Linguistics. We seek a scholar who specializes in second-language writing theory and pedagogy with a specific focus on English language learners. The ideal candidate will complement the current research and teaching strengths of the Linguistics Program and the English Department, particularly in second-language acquisition and teaching as well as composition. We prefer a candidate who has familiarity with both quantitative and qualitative research methods, as well as expertise in intercultural rhetoric/discourse and pragmatics as applied to L2. A Ph.D. in linguistics or a closely related field must be in hand at the time of appointment.
