Meeting Description:

The Russian Language Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences is pleased to announce the 8th conference Phonetics Today to be held in Moscow, October 28-30, 2016. The conference brings together researchers working on phonetics and phonology of Russian. 

There will be three plenary sessions (on Wednesday the 28, Thursday the 29 and Friday the 30) followed by parallel presentation sessions. Plenary talks will be for 30 minutes, talks allocated for parallel sessions will be for 20 minutes. All talks will be followed by 10 minutes of discussion.

Subject to the outcome of a grant proposal to be submitted later this year, the Conference Committee is planning to provide a number of attendance bursaries available to participants from Russia.

Call for Papers:

We welcome papers in all areas of Russian phonetics and phonology including, but not exclusively:

- Articulatory phonetics
- Acoustic and perceptual phonetics 
- Word and sentence prosody 
- Phonological theory 
- Synchronic variation and orthoepy
- Sociophonetics 
- Historical phonetics and phonology
- Phonetics and phonology of Russian dialects
- Russian in contact with other languages

Non-anonymous abstracts of no more than 600 words should be sent as attachments to phoneticstoday at yandex.ru. The submitted files should be in RTF format. Any phonetic characters should be in the Doulos SIL font, which can be downloaded for free from: http://scripts.sil.org/DoulosSIL_download.

Please include your name, affiliation and contact information in the body of your email.  

The Conference Committee would also like to encourage graduate students working in the area of Russian phonetics to submit their proposals.

All abstracts will be peer-reviewed by a committee of reviewers. 

The deadline for submission is 1 April 2016. 
Notification of acceptance will be made by 15 May 2016.
