Meeting Description:

The second conference on Telecollaboration in University Education, on the theme of New Directions in Telecollaborative Research and Practice, will be held in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland from 21 to 23 April 2016.

The profile of telecollaboration in education has continued to grow, while Web 2.0 and social media offer ever greater possibilities to instructors and course designers. The conference will therefore emphasise new avenues for research and practice, and new ways of approaching challenges old and new. Specifically, the conference aims are:

 - To share experience and research findings among practitioners and investigators in telecollaboration and OIE in changing technological and institutional contexts
- To foster development of the professional communities that are emerging around this important new element of tertiary education
- To explore together how we can further promote the integration of telecollaboration / OIE in tertiary education

Call for Abstracts:

We invite proposals for research papers, practice reports, round table discussions and panels, covering all aspects of telecollaboration, such as pedagogy, curriculum, learner language and discourse, as well as organisational, institutional and policy perspectives, and research methods. Papers on new developments in research and practice will be particularly welcome.

Proposals concerning online exchange in areas outside these fields are likewise welcome: please circulate this announcement to relevant colleagues from other subject areas.

Themes include:

- Language learning outcomes of telecollaborative exchange
- Intercultural learning outcomes of telecollaborative exchange
- Pedagogy of telcollaboration
- Linguistic dimensions of telecollaboration
- Interactional dimensions of telecollaboration
- Assessment in telecollaboration
- Combining telecollaboration with physical mobility: Blended and Virtual Mobility
- Telecollaboration and institutional policy
- Integrating telecollaboration in Higher Education institutions
- The student experience of telecollaboration
- Models of Telecollaboration in university education (e.g., e-tandem, Cultura, Soliya)
- Web 2.0 and Open Educational Resources in telecollaboration
- Teacher training and teacher competences for telecollaboration
- Research methodology in telecollaboration

Formats:

- Research paper / practice report
A twenty-minute presentation, followed by five minutes for questions, reporting original research or a report on telecollaborative practice.

- Panel
A topically cohesive set of three to four papers introduced by a convenor (corresponding author), followed by twenty to thirty minutes for discussion.

- “A Problem Shared is a Problem Halved”
Presenters will be asked to present briefly (maximum 10 minutes) a specific, well-defined, and 
unresolved challenge they have encountered in any aspect of telecollaborative research and practice. The floor will then be opened for discussion, advice, and suggestions. Among other things, we hope that this will facilitate the formation of new collaborations.

Proposals for any of these formats should take the form of an abstract of not more than 300 words.

- Extended deadline for submission of abstracts: 14 December 2015
- Notification of acceptance: 18 December 2015
- Early-bird registration deadline: 15 February 2016
- Final registration deadline: 25 March 2016
