Faculty Position in Speech-Language Pathology

Hofstra University’s Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences has an anticipated opening for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Speech-Language Pathology. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in psycholinguistics and either sociolinguistics or multilingualism.  Other areas of interest can include: phonetics, speech science, and/or phonological disorders. The course load consists of 9 hours of teaching per semester.  Additional responsibilities include research in the applicant’s area of interest, student advisement, and involvement in Department, School, and University committees.
 
Hofstra is a nationally ranked private university located 25 miles from New York City. The department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences is housed within the School of Health Professions and Human Services, which includes the Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic, located in the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center. The Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic offers diagnostic and treatment services to children and adults for a variety of communication disorders. The Clinic has over 150 pediatric and adult affiliations within the greater NY metropolitan area.

Requirements include an earned Ph.D. in Communication Disorders, Linguistics, or a related field. ASHA certification is preferred but not required. This is a nine-month tenure track position with the possibility of additional summer teaching. The position is anticipated to become available in September 2016.
