Job Description: 

The Department of English and Technical Communication at The Missouri University of Science and Technology (S&T) invites applications for one tenure-track or tenured (9 month) position in Applied Linguistics at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The teaching load is 2/2, and the position requires research, teaching, and service. 

The successful candidate will possess a PhD in a relevant discipline, although qualified ABD applicants will be considered. Either a master’s or doctorate in linguistics, applied linguistics, or a related field is expected. The successful candidate must have teaching expertise and research interests in the study of English as a Second Language (ESL). Program development and administration are likely paths for this position, and applicants should highlight experience they have working across disciplines, working with a diverse student body and faculty, and/or administering university writing or ESL programs.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a productive research agenda 
2. Teach from first year to graduate level students in a variety of subjects including composition, linguistics, and other courses in the applicant’s specialization. 
3. Coordinate with other faculty, both within and outside our department, to establish courses and/or programs that meet the needs of our growing number of English Language Learners.
