Meeting Description:

The Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, is pleased to announce its 1st International Conference on English Language, Literature, Teaching and Translation Studies (CELLTTS). This two-day conference is intended to offer its participants a stimulating forum to present and discuss their research findings.

Featured Plenary Speakers:

Professor Bas Aarts, Professor of English Linguistics, University College London; Director of the Survey of English Usage

Professor David Pesetsky, Ferrari P. Ward Professor of Modern Languages and Linguistics, and Margaret MacVicar Faculty Fellow, Head of the Department of Linguistics, MIT.

Call for Papers:

The globalised world today speaks English and writes in English. What we want to explore more closely at this conference is where this globalised world places those who study it. Numerous scholars have devoted their work to the study of English, but the question remains: How relevant is such study? Linguistics, literature, ELT, translation studies – these are the areas we wish to explore, both in their own right and in relation to the globalised world.

Submission Guidelines:

The conference language is English for 15-minute presentations.

Abstracts should include the following elements: (1) the name and surname of the author(s); (2) the affiliation of the author(s); (3) the link with the institution (e.g. professor, teaching assistant, graduate student, doctoral student; independent scholar); (4) the area of interest; (5) the email address(es) of the author(s); (6) the title of the presentation (within 15 words); (7) a clear description of the aims, methodology and expected results of the research or project to be reported in the presentation (within 200-250 words).

Abstracts should be sent electronically, as email attachments in Microsoft Word for Windows .doc or .docx formats to the Conference’s email address:

celltts at ff.unsa.ba, with the word ‘Abstract’ as the subject.
