Call for Papers:

Human fingerprints are unique to each individual. And each individual is unique with their own styles, attitudes, beliefs, values, perceptions, and behaviors. This uniqueness brings to human life dynamism, challenge, and inspire. Language learning is not different. Each learner bears within them their own unique orientation to the world, through which they receive and transmit their Self.

It is within the framework of individual language learning experience that the conference participants will focus their creative energy. By focusing on language learner's self-concept, we aim to foreground the role of the learner himself/herself in the process of language learning. Within this scope, the conference will be a platform of discussions for the academicians and practitioners carrying out a wide range of research topics related to Self, such as:

- Self-concept
- Individual differences the conference will be a platform of discussions for the academicians and practitioners carrying out self-related research on a wide range of topics
- Personality and learning
- Motivation and self-motivation
- Student self-regulation
- Language learning strategies
- Self-esteem
- Self-beliefs
- Willingness to communicate
- Language identity
- Learner autonomy
- Anxiety
- Metacognition
 
Abstracts of papers related to the topics listed above or other studies within the scope of research related to self are welcome. 

Selected papers will be published in “International Journal of Language Academy” (IJLA), ISSN 2342-0251 and all other papers will be published as proceedings on the conference website.

Types of Presentation:

Participants are invited to submit abstracts of completed papers, ongoing studies, or posters to the conference team. The conference language is English. 

Completed Papers:

The purpose of completed papers is to share with audience research findings about self-related studies on language learning by providing an opportunity to discuss the implications of the study. Each session (presenter) is required to last 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for questions.

Ongoing Studies:

The aim of ongoing studies is to provide a supportive setting for feedback on postgraduate students’ current research and guidance on future research directions by offering comments and suggestions on their studies from researchers and academicians in the field. The submissions should clearly include the problem on the focus with its importance, draft outline of the methodology of the intended study, and anticipated results of the study. The duration for each presenter is 10 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for questions. 

Poster Presentation

The purpose of a poster is to visually present the findings of a research study related to the theme of the conference. The submission should include the methodology, data analysis and the implications of the study. Posters may be any size up to a maximum of A1 (594mm x 840mm) or equivalent. On the poster, the presenter is required to indicate the objectives, key parts of procedures and methods, results and conclusion.
