Focus: Intensive summer seminars on language change and the Spanish lexicon, taught in Spanish in an immersion context.

Special Qualifications:
The program is designed for teachers. Knowledge of Spanish is required but no formal background in linguistics is necessary.


Description:
Participants take one graduate linguistics seminar and live with a local family in Barranquilla, Colombia. The program, now in its 25th year, is designed for Spanish teachers but open to others with the appropriate background and language skills. Courses are taught by Terrell A. Morgan, Professor of  Hispanic Linguistics at The Ohio State University, and Patricia V. Lunn, Professor Emerita of Hispanic Linguistics at Michigan State University.

Tuition Explanation: Tuition includes: 
3-credits OSU (Ohio State University) graduate tuition; 
room and board with a Colombian family; 
short excursions; 
three-day weekend in Cartagena de Indias; 
airport pick-up and drop-off; 
supplemental travel health insurance. 

Tuition does not include airfare.
