Meeting Description:

The English Department at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of Tunis (9 Avril) is pleased to announce its first International Conference on Linguistics with a particular focus on the theme of Linguistic Variation.

Linguistic Variation: Causes and Manifestations is the theme of our international conference on linguistics which aims to bring together linguists with a common goal: investigating variation in different languages and from different perspectives.

Keynote speakers: Prof. Paul Kerswill (University of York) and Prof. Pierre Larrivée (Université de Caen Basse-Normandie).

Call for Papers:

This conference aims at bringing together the Linguistic Community in Tunisia (researchers with different backgrounds and interests in linguistics). We invite contributors to submit papers on all topics related to language variation observed both in English and other languages from different perspectives including syntax, semantics, phonetics, phonology, morphology, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, language contact, etc. and applications of these areas of linguistics to fields such as language pedagogy and discourse analysis. 

We invite papers from both established scholars and PhD students, from Tunisia and internationally. Abstracts should not exceed one A4 page including references. Contributors are encouraged to submit an abstract in both Word and PDF format and should include their names and affiliations. Please specify your preference for either oral papers or posters.

Deadline for abstract submission: 28 February 2015.
