Description:

The Language Conservancy invites applications for two positions in Crow Agency, MT as a fieldworker/researcher in the area of language documentation and revitalization for the Crow language. 

The duration of the position is until August 20, 2015.

We are looking for people who are self-motivated and adaptable, work well in teams, enjoy challenges, and are passionate about language documentation and revitalization. 

The Language Conservancy works with many Native American communities to provide language materials such as textbooks, dictionaries, apps, and other resources. We offer an exciting working environment, where you will directly contribute to the Crow Language Education project. You will work with Crow speakers to document the Crow language for future generations of Crow speakers. Candidates should be outgoing, friendly, and be willing to reach out to community members of Crow Agency, Montana. Qualifications & Expected General Skills:

- Knowledge of audio software, in particular Audacity
- Experience with language documentation, research, and linguistic analysis 
- Be competent in PC and Mac environments
- Have an aptitude for learning new technologies and processes
- Good communication and teamwork skills 
- Excellent problem-solving skills 
- Friendly demeanor
- High degree of motivation 
- Able to manage own workload and meet deadlines 
- Excellent organizational skills 
- High standard of written and spoken English 
- Hold a B.A. or B.S. from an accredited institution

Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus: 

- Language data (corpora, dictionaries, thesauri)
- Transcribing content from audio recordings
- Syntactic analysis
- Morpho-phonological analysis
	
Compensation 


Fieldworker will be provided with room, board, and vehicle (if necessary). Gas expenses will be paid for.
