Focus: The major goal of LDT 2016 is to introduce the participants into the theory and methods of language documentation. The goal is to acquire the knowledge and competence to conduct one's own documentation projects with regard to endangered languages.

Description:

The field of language documentation has matured over the last 15 years. A good knowledge of its methodology, standards and new trends is important to ensure qualitative, lasting, multipurpose, innovative, as well as sustainable, documentation.

Language Documentation Training (LDT) 2016, a CIDLeS-ELDP (SOAS) event, aims at bringing together not only students and researchers of linguistics and related fields engaged in language documentation, but also speakers of endangered languages and local language workers that want to learn more about this research field and are eager to collaborate in documentation projects or to develop their own documentation.

- Corpus development
- Annotations (ELAN)
- Lexicography
- Metadata
- Archiving
- Ethics

Tuition: 550 EUR

Tuition Explanation: There are four different fees:

CIDLeS' members: 350 EUR
Students: 400 EUR 
Postdocs: 450 EUR
Normal fee (university staff & others): 550 EUR

LDT fee includes materials, lunch and coffee breaks during the training. 

Accommodation is not included.

Registration Instructions:
Participants have to apply by filling out the application form, providing information on their background and interest in the area of language documentation. The number of participants is limited to 25. Admission will be based on application date and the motivational statement that is part of the application form. If you selected student or postdoc fee in the application form, please send a copy of your student ID or other document that proves your student / postdoc status to info at cidles.eu.

The notification of acceptance will be sent until December 15th 2015.

Upon acceptance, participants must pay a non-refundable 150 EUR deposit within ten working days of acceptance to hold their space in LDT 2016. The deposit will be applied to the cost of LDT fee, the balance of which is due on February 29, 2016.
