Meeting Description:

EXAL+ aims to bring together neuro- and psycholinguistic work which takes as its object of study languages not typically represented in the psycholinguistic or neurolinguistic canon. EXAL+ will feature several invited talks (see the call for papers), posters, and talks based upon abstract submission. Limited travel support may be available for student presenters.

The NYU Neuroscience of Language Lab (NeLLab), New York University Abu Dhabi, and the NYU Abu Dhabi Research Institute are pleased to sponsor Experimental Approaches to Arabic and other understudied Languages (EXAL+) at NYU Abu Dhabi January 14-17, 2016. EXAL+ aims to bring together research broadening neurolinguistic and psycholinguistic horizons via the inclusion of languages or dialects not typically included in experimental investigations.

EXAL+ will include 30 minute talks and posters based on submitted abstracts, as well as the following invited speakers:

- David Corina (University of California, Davis)
- Ram Frost (Hebrew University, Jerusalem)
- Ali Idrissi (Qatar University)
- Itziar Laka (University of the Basque Country)
- Matthias Schlesewsky (University of South Australia)
- Matt Wagers (University of California, Santa Cruz)

Call for Papers:

Submissions are invited on any topic utilizing psycho- or neurolinguistic methodology with a focus on any experimentally understudied language. Abstracts for talks and/or posters should be no more than one (A4) page plus one additional page for figures, tables, and references and should be submitted electronically to exal-plus at nyu.edu. Please use 2.54 cm/1 inch margins and a Times font face. Abstracts are due by midnight GMT on August 10, 2015 with notification by early September. Limited financial support may be available for selected student presenters. There is a website for the conference at https://wp.nyu.edu/exal_plus/.
